Anthony at the Mouraki Bouilders

On Tuesday, we left Te Anau and drove to Dunedin. It was a wonderful drive, but no LOTR hunts. On Wednesday we had a bus ride to Larnach Castle followed by a wildlife harbor cruise.

It reminded us, a little, of Biltmore, but on a smaller scale. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to checkout the gardens. They looked lovely.

A funny sign on the way to the castle

We then got on a boat, and took a cruise of the harbor looking for wildlife. We got very lucky.

We ended the day at a Penguin Sanctuary. They first showed us where they rehabilitate injured or malnourished penguins. Then we were taken out to the breeding area, and using blinds, we went to look at the colony. We only saw one baby penguin (the lump under the tree, not very clear) and then saw more fur lions. The scenery was wonderful, no matter if we did not get to see many penguins. Oh, and there was a little blue penguin chick in a box.

Julie’s sinus infection seemed to come back, so we took it easy on Thursday. We left on Friday, on our way to Tekapo we stopped at the Moeraki Boulders.

We also drove by a cool dam.
