Ferry Ride to Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island (K’gari)

View from the balcony of our room. One night we heard possums walk across the room and climb into the trees (Julie thinks it was river rats).

View from the toilet. It took a bit to get use to this.

Our tour bus on the beach

All day 4WD Bus Tour of the Fraser Island “Beauty Spots”. Julie had strained her back the day before messing with the suitcases, this bus tour wrecked her.

Lake Mckenzie. The lake was the only perched lake that was blue, on the island. All the other ones are brown, due to vegetation. It was a little chilly and Anthony lost his wedding ring in it. Although it was really clear, we could not find the ring.

Wanggoolba Creek (Julie is not a happy camper…)

Maheno Shipwreck

After Lunch took a drive down the highway on 75 Mile beach, stopping at the Maheno Shipwreck, Pinnacles and Eli Creek.

The S.S. Maheno was a luxury liner starting in 1905, during WWI it was a floating hospital, and was finally retired in 1935. It was being towed to new owners in Japan, when it was caught in a cyclone, broke the tow, and washed up on the beach on Fraser Island. It has sat there since then, slowly corroding and being buried by the sand.

We drove by one of only two commercial runways on a beach in the world.

Pinnacles

Anthony floated/floundered down the incredibly clear waters at Eli Creek.

Not sure this is accurate anymore

A couple of cockatoos in a tree at the resort pool

It was lovely weather for ducks most of our time at Fraser Island. We did manage to work in a walk and Anthony got in a run.

Pond in front of our Room, you can see the rain drops on the water.

Overlook of the beach on our walk.

Anthony ran down to Dundonga Creek, not far outside of the Kingfisher Resort. It was very hilly. He walked along the creek to the beach, thinking the entire time about the crocs he saw at the Australian Zoo.

View from the ridge overlooking the water.

Beach at the end of the run.
