Cervantes
22 - 23 November 2022
On Tuesday, we had a very short drive (only 2 hours) so we took a detour to Ellendale Pool. It was a beautiful spot, even had cockatoos in the trees. However, it also had bacterial meningitis in the water, if the water was above 24C. We did not risk it. The flies were pretty bad too.
We passed a windmill farm on our way to and from Ellendale Pool. Anthony is fascinated by windmills, and had to take pictures. There was a blade on display at a little turn off. It was very big.
The reason why we stopped in Cervantes was to visit The Pinnacles in Nambung National Park. We took a 1.5km walk through the Pinnacles, then did the driving track as well. As you can see from the pictures below, they are stunning.
While we were walking through the Pinnacles, Julie noticed an Emu track. She tried to track the bird, but failed. THEN! while we were doing the driving track, Lo and Behold!! Emus!!
After the Pinnacles, we visited Lake Thetis, a small, salty lake that has both Stromatolites and Thrombolites. If you remember, there were stromatolites at Hamelin Pool, near Monkey Mia. These are the buggers that terraformed the Earth. Anthony was very excited. Below are some more pictures of Lake Thetis.
Medical Update: Julie seems to finally be over her sinus infection. She is feeling much better
