View from the front of the Ferry to Kangaroo Island

On Saturday, we caught the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Nice views from the road on the way.

We arrived at the Ozone Aurora Hotel in Kingscote. We were able to upgrade to a ocean view room. Here are some photos outside of the room.

Admiral’s Arch

Admiral’s Arch and Remarkable Rocks are on the Western tip of Kangaroo Island. On the way, we had a surprisingly good lunch at the Vivonne Bay General Store, in the middle of freaking no where. As well as being an amazing geological structure, Admiral’s Arch is home to a colony of Fur Seals. We experienced the first real rain on the walk to the Arch, can you tell we are cold?

Just a few kilometers up the coast in Flinders Chase NP are the Remarkable Rocks. We were able to walk out and play among the rocks.

On the drive back to the hotel Julie dodged our first Kangaroos crossing the road. Can you find one hiding?

At dinner at the Hotel, we saw a rainbow out the window from our table. Anthony ran out into the wind and rain to get a photo.

Monday we drove to Seal Beach (a bit of a misnomer) where we took a guided tour to walk on the beach with the Australian Sea Lions. While the seals at Admiral’s Arch were playing in the cold surf, the Sea Lions have a thinner coat, and like to lounge on the beach after 3 days of hunting. The Sea Lions range as far as 300 Km out to the Continental Shelf to feed. While we were on the beach, one of the Sea Lions came sliding down a dune to visit with us.
