Bicheno and Christmas

24 - 26 December 2022

View from our room in Bicheno

We arrived in Bicheno on Christmas eve. That night we saw the Fairy Penguins come up on the beach. Our guide used red light, so as not to disrupt the little guys. We got a few rough photos, and used some pics the tour group gave to us. You will probably be able to tell the difference.

Christmas morning we went for a hike up to the Whaler’s Overlook, for a view of Bicheno and the surrounding shoreline.

After the hike, we had a terrific Christmas Buffet at our hotel. We had a lovely Devil’s Corner sparkling white wine from a nearby winery.

A close up of one of the blow holes.

Before our drive to the Launceston Airport. We took a hike around the whale trail (a couple of months late for whale watching). We stopped at the Blowhole, which was entertaining as by-standers would occasionally get soaked.

There was a big crack between Julie and the blowhole, which kept her from getting closer. Which was too bad, since the water was going away from her.
